Proceeds from the Hendy Foundation Birthday Auction were all directed to foodbanks and community pantries and one of these grants was awarded to Exeter Food Action.
The charity rescues excess food from shops and suppliers and redistributes it to organisations that support people in need in local communities in Devon.
It works work with wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers, who supply us with food that they would otherwise throw away. Together they stop perfectly eatable food going to landfill, incineration, anaerobic digestion, or being used as animal food.
It also works in partnership with Fareshare South West to supply food for their Community Food Members in Exeter, East Devon and Torbay.
